Travel Tips

Switzerland still has border controls, an identity card or passport is required. If you are in any doubt, visit the following website www.ch.ch

By car:

When driving through Switzerland you are required to display a “vignette” or road tax sticker on your windshield, you can buy this at most petrol stations in and around Switzerland at a cost of Chf40.00. Make sure you have snow chains with you and that you know how to fit them. If the roads are slippery local police may not allow you up the mountain without chains.
There is a parking area next to Ski Hostel / Restaurant Le Poussin where you can park free of charge.

Flying:

Genève or Basel are the closest commercial airports. The closest mainline train station to Champoussin is Aigle (for train information www.sbb.ch ), a 1 hour and 20 minute journey from Genève or 2 hours and 50 minutes from Basel, it is then a 30 minute drive to Champoussin. A taxi will cost around Chf120.00, Taxi Val d’Illiez +41(0)79 853 67 70

Important: Booking return flights; there are some attractive offers for early flights out of both Genève and Basel airports but you should check train schedules to make sure you can reach the airport on time.
